Mission: The Glorification of Performance Art

HEXY LAB: Lascivious Bioart Ritual with Dr. WhiteFeather Hunter and Bruixes Lab [Canada/Italy]

A collaborative immersive performance combining live bioart action, ritual gestures, sound, moving image, and Pepper’s Ghost illusion installations.

HEXY LAB is a collaborative performance that transforms laboratory practices into erotic hauntology, creating a ritual space where feminist bioart, witchcraft, and speculative biotechnology converge. WhiteFeather Hunter and Bruixes Lab summon an “other/worldly lab” in which bioscience becomes spell, glassware becomes scrying apparatus, and lab processes are performed as collective care. Through live bioart gestures, layered sound, projected moving images, and Pepper’s Ghost illusion techniques, the performance creates apparitional presences such as flickering figures, floating organs, and cellular moonscapes to evoke bodies beyond reproductive duty and futures freed from optimization and purity. The work engages themes of reproductive autonomy, non-normative embodiment, and anti-perfectionist futures. HEXY LAB frames biotech experimentation as a space for uncertainty, relational ethics, and ritual encounter where the audience enters as witnesses to a séance for alternative, pleasure-centric sci-tech futures.

YAKIKAT [NYC] ANTI

YAKIKAT (formerly known as J Alex Ray) is a New York–based performance artist and pole dancer. Their practice incorporates experimental movement with themes of deconstruction and self-evolution, treating pole dance as both a sculptural apparatus and site of inquiry, examining athleticism, spectacle, visibility, and embodied labor.

Their early career developed in San Francisco, receiving a B.A. in Communication Studies from San Francisco State University in 2019, focusing on performance art and communication. During their studies, they trained pole dance alongside other styles of dance - eventually performing self-choregraphed pieces presented at Pole Sport Organization, Flux Vertical Theatre, and other entertainment spaces.

YAKIKAT - Since moving to NYC in 2022, they have presented their experimental performance work with La MaMa Galleria, Grace Exhibition Space, MOMENTA, //PIXELMOUTH, ChaShaMa, Intima, and other collectives.

JOSEPH SLEDGIANOWSKI [NYC] 4 Walls

A box. A space. The surroundings, the barriers, the levels, information, construction, orchestration.

The process, a building, our functions, perspectives, languages, tangents in different directions.

SPACE - - - STRUCTURE - - - FORMATTING

Whats leading us these ways and what is holding us back from everything ?

We are driven in certain directions, yet often face withholding guidelines throughout it all.

We're not on the same path or see the same perspective. What we may think is solid still evolves and transforms.

And throughout own ways we still absorb from others.

Working through it all, the structures of it all, we often do not recognize the complexities of it all.

We build, we structure, we can be pushed, can get lost and confused.

These amorphic realms while we function our lives and minds together.

How do we push through it all? Whats the right direction?

From start to finish, a daily life, what we live in... What a complex maze!

How we live and what we live in can be seen as some kind of box or puzzle. From our homes and the buildings around us, to our own minds and daily life.

We pace around, on and on in circles, and get lost, confused, held in.

JOSEPH SLEDGIANOWSKI was born in 1987 in NJ, & currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.

He works in multimedia, with often a larger focus through sound and performance.

His work often reflects complexities of life, social alienation, physical and mental health, the capabilities of what's around us, and the surreal realms we're through.

We offer an opportunity to experience visceral and challenging works by the current generation of international performance artists whether emerging, mid-career or established. Our events are presented on the floor, not on a stage, dissolving the boundary between artist and viewer.
