Inaugural Indigenous New York Fashion Week Produced by Relative Arts Will Reshape Native American Representation in Fashion Lenapehoking (New York, NY)
Relative Arts, the first Indigenous owned and operated retail shop in Lenapehoking (New York City), will host and showcase over 20 celebrated Indigenous brands and designers from across Turtle Island and beyond this month during Indigenous New York Fashion Week. This first-of-its-kind production will reshape the Native American narrative in fashion by highlighting Indigenous creativity, culture, and voices during New York Fashion Week–the industry’s most prominent week of events.
A New Platform for Indigenous Creatives This series of community-centered programming will celebrate Indigenous Futurism, while honoring cultural preservation, sustainable practices, and collaboration between Indigenous communities. It will take place in the heart of Manhattan’s East Village, and will be broadcast via livestreams across multiple digital platforms.
“Indigenous NYFW is not just about fashion—it’s a reclamation of space, a celebration of legacy, and a vision for Indigenous futures,” says Korina Emmerich (Puyallup), co-founder and creative director of Relative Arts. “We’re building a platform where Native designers can share their stories, innovate with intention, and connect with audiences who value authenticity and artistry.”
Designers and brands that will be featured throughout the weekend of events include Naiomi and Tyler Glasses (Glasses Collection), Korina Emmerich (EMME Studio), Jeremy Arviso (Original Landlords), Copper Canoe Woman, Joe Big Mountain (Ironhorse Quillwork), and more. Partners include Decolonizing Wealth Project, First Nations Performing Arts, The Urban Indigenous Collective, Indigiqueer Creative Alliance, Creator's Favorite, and Lenape-owned Teton Trade Cloth, who will be supplying featured designers Jolonzo Goldtooth (JG Indie Designs), Michelle Luna (Bitterwater for Redhouse), and Tina Bradley (Queena Ribbons) with textiles for their collections.
Relative Arts will also host a night of live musical performances to celebrate Indigenous joy and sound in collaboration with Bad Aunties Records, featuring Las Mariquitas and deerlady on Friday, September 12th, 2025. “We are so thrilled to welcome and spotlight all of the talented creators joining us, and honor their contributions to the fashion industry past, present, and future,” adds Liana Shewey (Mvskoke), co-founder and director of programming at Relative Arts.
